Harwin and the Environment

Harwin plc has completed its investigation into its requirements for the RoHS legislation. All of our product ranges are available in a RoHS compliant format, to support our customers' requirements under the legislation. We are also conscious of our exempt customers, and certain leaded products are still being maintained for those markets.

RoHS compliance is declared on Harwin products where there is no lead in the plating (100% tin or gold as termination finishes), and the product does not contain any of the other substances restricted under RoHS.

We are aware that lead-free soldering temperatures are higher than those expected from leaded solder processes. Any products destined for a soldering application are therefore being offered in a high-temperature alternative, and Harwin recommend the use of these products in lead-free soldering processes. More detailed information on these actions is given in the RoHS section.

Other environmental processes are also being implemented alongside existing practices. We are currently investigating BS EN ISO 14001: Environmental Management systems, and our catalogues are printed using recycled paper. Please have a look at our Environmental Actions section.
